Ayr is the birthplace of Robert Burns (1759 - 1796) the famous Scottish poet and lyricist. He’s the inspiration behind the annual Burns Night, when many Scottish people enjoy a traditional Haggis meal and gather to celebrate Burns’ life work and also wrote the famous New Year’s Eve song, Auld Lang Syne.
Ayr is also packed with history and culture with Culzean Castle, Burns Cottage and Ayr Beach being among their popular tourist destinations. The High Street and shopping areas also offer a fantastic shopping destination for everyone.
